Eight members of the West Point’s Mom’s Club spruced up the playground behind Webb Place in Stony I Saturday. The members painted the equipment, policed the area and refurbished the sand surface during the morning’s work.

The club is for moms living on post with any age children and provides friendship, support, and information on issues of interest to the mom.

Each year the club works on a community service project and the members saw the need to spruce up the playground. They also raised $1,000 for the play area and are looking into purchasing a bench.

"After all, who else but a mom would know about a playground -- we’re the ones who use it the most," said Susan Conti, Mom’s Club member and coordinator for the project.

USMA’s Playground Commission, established as a result of a 1999 Family Symposium Issue, enthusiastically endorsed the project. Commission officials said they encourage community involvement in the upkeep and planning of the playgrounds in the housing areas and seek community input.
