Army consolidates civilian payroll funtion

Starting Monday, the Defense Accounting Service will transition the Army payroll functions, including West Point, from Charleston to Denver. The Army is making the move to consolidate its civilian payroll processing into one location.

Despite the impending shift in locations, Directorate of Resource Management officials here are quick to point out that civilians should notice no difference in the process.

"DFAS has assured us that employees will receive their Leave and Earnings Statements as usual and not see any difference in the delivery of pay," said Kathy White, chief of DRM’s Service Centers.

White did warn employees that some payroll changes made after Monday through the Employee/Member Self Service online system could be delayed.

"E/MSS access for LES viewing and making address changes will be unaffected," she explained. "However, employees’ may experience up to a 3-day delay for making other payroll changes."

White said all LES information, such as year-to-date pay and leave information, deductions, allotments and direct deposit information will remain the same and that no leave will be forfeited or paid out as a result of the transfer.

"Employees should all see the same gross and net pay as usual," she added. "The only visible difference will be the change in the payroll office identification number."
