Lax's Bryan namedAll-American

BALTIMORE, Md. -- Army’s Jeff Bryan was among 14 attackmen named to the 2003 USILA Honorable Mention All-America list it was announced at the NCAA Championship game Monday at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Md. Bryan becomes the 304th All-American in Army lacrosse history.

Bryan set a new academy single-season record for assists, dishing out 45 helpers to lead the team in scoring with 57 points. The Niskayuna, N.Y., native was a first-team All-Patriot League pick and ranked tied for first in the nation in assists and fifth in scoring at the end of the regular season. His selection marks the fourth consecutive year in which Army has been represented on the All-America squad. Former teammate Tim Pearson was a three-time honorable mention All-American in 2000, 2001 and 2002.

The 87th All-American to study under Army mentor Jack Emmer, Bryan recorded 15 assists in a three-game span in early April that propelled the junior into the national spotlight. He followed that outstanding week with a clutch performance in the Black Knights’ win over rival Bucknell that helped secure the Patriot League title and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

Bryan is one of two honorees from Patriot League schools. Bucknell goalkeeper Justin Sussman was an honorable mention All-American as well.

The three-year letterman will serve as co-captain for the Black Knights next season. Bryan will receive his certificate at the All-America Banquet at the Stamford Marriott Hotel in Stamford, Conn., June 6 at 7 p.m.
