USMA grad killed in Iraq

WEST POINT -- Lt. Col. Dominic R. Baragona, 42, a member of the West Point Class of 1982, died May 19 near Safwan, Iraq, according to Department of Defense officials.

He is the second U.S. Military Academy graduated killed in Iraq since the beginning of the war.

The career soldier was killed when a tractor-trailer jackknifed on the road and collided with his Humvee, officials said. Two Humvees and one civilian truck were involved. An Iraqi citizen was killed and two soldiers were injured.

Baragona was commanding officer of the 19th Maintenance Battalion from Fort Sill, Okla.

The incident is under investigation.
