Two cadets receive Gates scholarships
Cadets 1st Class Steve Kreeger and Heather Ritchey were named Gates Scholars recently. They are the fourth and fifth cadets to earn the honor since the scholarship was first awarded in 2001.   

McCaffrey honored with Castle award
The West Point Society of the District of Columbia awarded Class of 1964 member, retired Gen. Barry R. McCaffrey, the 2004 Castle Memorial Award Saturday at its annual Founders Day dinner.

USMA '95 grad dies in Iraq
Capt. John F. Kurth, a 1995 U.S. Military Academy graduate, was killed Saturday by an improvised explosive device while on patrol in Tikrit, Iraq. The native of  Columbus, Wis., was assigned to 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, based in  Schweinfurt, Germany, which is an infantry battalion assigned to the 1st Infantry Division (Mechanized).

Ring melt ceremony bonds past with the future
Steve Rasmussen stood earnestly, his voice cracking with emotion describing his father’s love for the U. S. Military Academy and his privilege to witness something that meant so much to his father with the hope it will mean the same to its new owner.

 West Point hosts annual Science Olympiad
The day after cadets loaded into cars to escape West Point for a week of spring break, hundreds of high school students arrived in buses for the annual New York State Science Olympiad Tournament Finals.
