West Point will present the Thayer Award to former Senator Robert J. Dole, during a ceremony Wednesday, 5 p.m., on the Plain here.

Senate gives preliminary approval for USMA library, housing projects
A press release from the offices of New York Senators Charles E. Schumer and Hillary Rodham Clinton Tuesday announced the Senate has given preliminary approval for $48.927 million for military construction projects in the Hudson Valley. That total includes $34.5 million for a new cadet Library and Learning Center and $10.6 million for family housing renovations here.

Cadets share day with community members
U.S. Military Academy cadets from companies A, F and H helped community members Saturday sample a bit of the “West Point experience.” The cadets set up stations throughout the cadet area and more than 70 civilians spent the morning learning about everything from first aid to weapons assembly.

Keeping them on their toes

Pet Alert: ProHeart 6 recalled by FDA concerns
ProHeart6 a preventative heartworm medication was recalled by Fort Dodge Animal Health of Overland Park, Kan. recently at the request of the Food and Drug Administration because of concerns about adverse reaction reports associated with the product.

Revamped Army rugby team looks to return
New offensive pattern, new jerseys, new head coach, but same old results as Army men’s rugby A- and B-sides trampled New Hampshire in their 2004 New England Rugby Football Union openers, 63-0 and 83-0, respectively, at Daly Field Saturday.
