The helicopter, which came from B Company, 3rd Battalion, 142nd Aviation in Islip, N.Y., assisted West Point and local firefighters in controlling a series of fires on and off the installation. One of the fires started in a range area on West Point and spread to the neighboring Black Rock Forest preserve in Cornwall. Using a 600 gallon water bag, the helicopter crew dumped approximately 22,800 gallons of water on various hot spots.
