CADET SENTENCED – May 13, 2008

 

       WEST POINT, N.Y. – Joshua J. Dixon, A Company, 1st Regiment, Class of 2008,

was found guilty today, by a military judge, for driving recklessly while under the influence, fleeing the scene of an accident and providing a false official statement.   He was sentenced to one year and one month confinement, dismissal from the U.S. Army and forfeiture of all pay and allowances.

        Dixon was formally charged in December 2007 with one violation of Article 111 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (Drunken and Reckless Operation of a Vehicle), and three violations of Article 133 of the UCMJ (Conduct Unbecoming an Officer and a Gentleman), while on temporary duty in Maryland on or about July 1, 2007.

       “Cadet Dixon was found guilty.  Once the evidence was presented, the judge determined that his conduct violated the Uniform Code of Military Justice and the standards expected of all Soldiers,” said Director of Communications Col. Bryan Hilferty.
