USMA FACULTY MEMBER DIES -- June 11, 2008

WEST POINT, N.Y. – A U.S. Military Academy professor died here Monday night.

The death is under investigation.

Col. Robert Powell, 46, was assigned to the U. S. Military Academy as a systems engineering professor in June 2002.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Powell family during this difficult time,” said Col. Bryan Hilferty, U.S. Military Academy Director of Communications.

Powell graduated from Texas A&M University in 1984 and was commissioned an Air Defense second lieutenant. He served on various tours in the continental United States, as well as in Korea and Germany.
