The 13th annual West Point Triathlon will take place at Camp Buckner Aug. 18, beginning at 9 a.m.

There may be minor traffic delays along Route 293. Vehicular traffic in the area should proceed with caution.

Pre-registration begins at 7 a.m. The 800-meter swim will begin at 9 a.m. when the first heat goes off. A 25-kilometer bike ride will follow with a 5-kilometer run completing the triathlon.

The top three men and women in 14 different race categories will receive awards.

The race is expected to max out at 600 competitors, according to Triathlon assistant officer in charge and race director Kim Cokeley.

The Army Triathlon team needs your help. "This is a priority for us," Club Officer in Charge Capt. Chris Kidd said. "Anyone who wishes to volunteer to help out this year will receive free race t-shirts and will have a lot of fun helping out the cadets."

Volunteers can contact the following:
Kim Cokeley, race director, 938-2352.
Chris Kidd, Club OIC, 446-6546.
Hector Tover, Team Coach 938-7918.
