Junior Charles Woodruff averaged 14.5 ppg., 8.0 rpg. and 1.5 bpg. in two men’s basketball games last week, earning the Army Athletic Association’s "Athlete of the Week" citation Monday.

The junior forward capped his week by exploding for a career-high 22 points, 8 rebounds and three blocked shots in Army’s 73-57 loss to Quinnipiac Saturday. The game marked Woodruff’s fourth double-figure scoring game in his last six outings and pushed his per-game scoring average to 10.2 ppg., second best on the team this season.

Woodruff, who missed the first game of his collegiate career when Army visited Marist Dec. 31, opened last week with nine points and eight rebounds in a last-second, 64-61 loss to Yale in his first action following the Christmas layoff. Woodruff had a 63-game appearance streak snapped when his departure from Lubbock was delayed by four days after Christmas following one of the worst winter storms in the region’s history.
