Theme: Mission Command in Today’s Army
Mission:
USCC conducts the Mission Command Conference XVI from 22-24 April 2013 at West
Point to inspire graduating USMA, USNA, and ROTC Cadets to selflessly lead with
character and honor, within a framework of mission command principles.
Student Objectives:
1) Inspired
to serve as officers in the US military.
2) Understand
the importance of and are challenged to further explore the concepts of mission
command through the tangible examples of others.
3) Hone
their judgment with scenarios drawn from the recent experience of others.
4) Learn
from junior and senior leaders who facilitate the embracement of their
responsibilities as a commissioned officer.
5) Become
more self aware of the traits pertaining to character, competence, and
leadership in themselves and other leaders in the Army.
6) Visualize
and discuss the responsibilities of lieutenants in combat, training, and in
relations with NCOs.
Mentor Objectives:
1)
Embrace developing others as a
fundamental attribute of being a noncommissioned officer or officer in the
Army.
2)
Inspire cadets/midshipman with
personal examples, experiences, and judgment as an officer.
3)
Reflect on their experiences to
appreciate the developmental opportunities for others.
4)
Become more self aware of the traits
pertaining to character, competence, and leadership in themselves and the
soon-to-be commissioned lieutenants.
Endstate:
Soon-to-be commissioned Cadets and Midshipmen are excited to become officers,
are focused on their commissioning and their future responsibilities, and are
prepared to execute mission command while serving selflessly with character and
honor.
