LTC Kucik has conducted research in decision analysis, systems engineering, optimization, cost analysis, and management and incentive systems.
He has led research work to assist a number of organizations within the Department of Defense. Projects completed for Army G1 include analyses of recruiting, incentives, and retention for officers and enlisted members, as well as an analysis of the costs required for Unit Manning. Projects completed for Army G3 include an analysis of recapitalization of the Abrams Tank and Bradley Fighting Vehicle fleets. Projects completed for the Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management include forecasting barracks space requirements across the Army and cost estimation for utilities privatization. Projects completed for the Commander, U.S. Army Forces Command include an analysis of safety incidents across the command and an analysis of equipment usage costs. Projects completed for the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Manpower and Reserve Affairs include economic analysis in support of the Army Game Project and multiple studies on personnel issues. Projects completed for U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command include an analysis of capacity and student loads for the Basic Officer Leaders Course, the Captains Career Course, and Intermediate Level Education. In addition to these projects, his current duties as director of the operations research center involve work on a diverse set of challenges.
