Major Sam Linn first deployed to Iraq in 2003 with the 101st Airborne Division for OIF 1, where he served as company Fire Support Officer, and then Civil-Military Operations Officer for a suburb of Mosul, Iraq. Following the 101st, he was assigned to the 75th Ranger Regiment, where he served 3 combat rotations with Ranger Regiment; one to Bagram, Afghanistan, and two to Iraq to various locations, (2004 – 2006) where he conducted direct action raids to kill/capture high value targets. Following the Maneuver Captain’s Career Course in 2007, he took command of a Stryker Company at Fort Lewis, WA, which he commanded for 3 years, including 12 months of combat in Kandahar, Afghanistan (2009-2010). Major Linn currently serves as an Economics Instructor for the SS201 Course.
