Sarah Gerstein is an International Affairs instructor in the Department of Social Sciences at the United States Military Academy at West Point. After graduation from West Point in 2007, she commissioned as an intelligence officer and served in a variety of assignments at the tactical level. She completed combat deployments to both Iraq and Afghanistan. She served as a Signals Intelligence platoon leader, company executive officer, and assistant training officer in the 319th Military Intelligence Battalion, 525th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade; as battalion intelligence officer for 2-11 Field Artillery, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division; and as the company commander for the 185th Military Intelligence Company, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division.
She holds a Bachelor of Science from West Point and a Masters in Global Affairs from the Jackson Institute at Yale University.
