2013 is an exciting year to be an Ultimate player. Many organizations and leagues exist nationwide to allow people to learn about the sport. The following are some links to places where you can read about Ultimate regularly:
USA Ultimate - this is the primary Ultimate organization in the United States--the national governing body. Participants in USAU events are registered members of USAU—all members of West Point’s team are USAU members. They run conference, regional, and national championships in three main divisions: Youth (club and high school; U-19), College (D-I and D-III;), and Club (Regular, Masters (33+yrs), and Grand Masters (40+yrs)). They are also responsible for fielding USA National teams. There are men’s, women’s and coed divisions. If you want to know where to play in your area, this is a great place to start.

World Flying Disc Federation – the WFDF is the global governing body of Ultimate and a host of other disc-related sports (disc golf, double-disc court, etc.). This organization is much like Fédération Internationale de Football Association or the International Olympic Committee in that it serves as a forum for development and growth for the sport throughout the world. World Championships of any kind are run through this organization, and a strong international bond exists in the Ultimate community due to this organization.
Ultiworld – this is the main aggregator of Ultimate News, and anybody looking for updates on their favorite teams, tournament results, and standings in the professional leagues can come here for news as well as insights into the many things changing about Ultimate. They also have lots of up-to-date video and regularly compile tournament highlights.
Professional Leagues:
The American Ultimate Disc League – this is the official web site for the American Ultimate Disc League, a 12-team league started in 2011 that is the world’s first-ever Professional Ultimate Frisbee league. It has slightly different rules than USAU; referees are included and penalties are assessed more like those in American Football. Check this site for updates, gear, and fantasy ultimate. Our local affiliate is the New York Empire, who play at Randall’s Island Park in New York City. Find your home team!
Major League Ultimate – this is a league built off of the initial success of the AUDL in 2012 that uses slightly different rules and a different type disc than USAU and the AUDL. Play is still extremely competitive in this eight-team league. Check this site for updates on MLU events and gear! Our local affiliate is the New York Rumble, who play in Northern New Jersey. See a game!
