WHAT'S AN ARMY NORDIC SKIER?
Army's Nordic skiers compete in cross county ski
races against other division III schools. They are top notch
athletes that enjoy the two months known as the 'gloom period'
more than anyone else at the academy. This elite group of
cadets represent the academy in competitions throughout New York
and New England. A typical race for these cadets ranges between
10 and 15 km. Many of the team's members have no previous
skiing experience, so hard training is essential to get the team
ready every year. While this is only a club team, Nordics
get the opportunity to compete against the Air Force Academy every
year.
