Pipes and Drums

MAJ McCulloh, Ian MATH (845)938-5629

The Pipes and Drums of the Corps of Cadets traces its beginnings to 1974 and has since become a very visible part of the sights, sounds and spirit of the Academy. The Band performs at parades, dining-in, class reunions, festivals and balls before both military and civilian audiences. It has trained in Scotland and Ireland and twice traveled to Ireland to march in the St. Patrick’s Day Parades in Dublin and Limerick. It accompanied the West Point Football Team to Ireland in 1988, to perform at the WestPoint-Boston College game and played at the Ambassador’s Residence. An annual Military Tatoo has been a part of the Band’s activities for 23 years, with 20 or so invited Pipe Bands performing at Trophy Point. The band is seen wearing its disinctive West Point tartan, commissioned in 1983 by Supt LTG Willard Scott.
