Basic Requirements: Private Pilot
- Must be at least 17 years old at time of FAA Practical (flight) test
- Must be able to read, speak, write, and converse fluently in English
- Must pass the private pilot knowledge test with a score of 70% or better
- Hold Current Class III or higher FAA Medical Certificate
- Hour Requirements (Miniumum Total of 40), to include:
- 20 hours of flight training with a certified flight instructor
- 3 hours cross-country (to other airports)
- 3 hours at night, to include:
- One night cross-country flight of over 100 NM total distance.
- 10 night takeoffs and 10 landings to a full stop at an airport
- 3 hours of maneuvering an airplane solely by reference to instruments
- 3 hours in airplanes in preparation for the private pilot practical test within 60 days prior to that date
- 20 hours of solo flight time
- 5 hours of cross-country time
- One solo cross-country of at least 150nm total distance, with fuoll stop landings at a minimum of three points and with one segment of flight consisting of a straight-line distance of at least 50NM between takeoff and landing locations
- Three solo takeoffs and landings to a full stop at an airport with an operating control tower
