CLUB AT CARL T. HAYDEN MEDICAL CENTER Twenty-five members of the Cadet Glee Club perform for residents of the Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center Nursing Home in Phoenix, AZ, on New Year's Eve. The group traveled to Phoenix to perform the National Anthem at the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl on New Year's Day for a national network broadcast and a live audience of over 73,000. |

CLUB AT BCS CHAMPIONSHIP Twenty-five members of the Cadet Glee Club perform the National Anthem at the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, AZ, on New Year's Day, under the direction of Constance Chase. While in Arizona for the bowl game appearance, the Glee Club also appeared on the Good Morning Arizona television show, the highest-ranking morning show in Arizona. |

FOURTH
NATIONAL TITLE The Women's Army Team Handball took their fourth consecutive national title at the Collegiate National Championship for Women's Team Handball held April 21-23 at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Women's handball is a relatively unknown, but very physical sport. The Army team plays in over 10 tournaments a year with each tournament consisting of 7 or more physically grueling games. BOXING
WINNERS Cadet Reggie Smith (left) and Romanian exchange cadet Ovi Iacob captured National Championship titles in their respective weight classes at the National Collegiate Boxing Association Championships in Reno, Nevada last month. As a team, Army walked away with the bronze trophy and had seven members qualify for the All-American team to end their season. JUDO
CHAMPS Maj. Cale Brown, judo coach, traveled with the Army Judo team to the Collegiate National Judo Championships in Tinley Park, Ill. March 25-26. The 18-person team finished second in the team competition and claimed four overall medals. Cadet Mike Lee came home with a gold medal while teammates Sara Knutson and Brent Carr both walked away with silver and Sara Drane took bronze during the two-day competition. |

FENCING
NATIONALS The Army Fencing team traveled to Clemson University, in South Carolina, for the U.S. Association of Collegiate Fencing Clubs' National Championships April 1-2. The men, who were defending their 2005 national title, dominated the field. The epée squad took fourth, the saber squad took second, and the foil squad took first, which enabled the men's team to repeat as national champions. The women placed third overall, with the epée squad earning 10th and the saber squad earning sixth. HOLIDAY
GLEE The New York Public Library hosted 25 cadets from the Cadet Glee Club Dec. 10 during their annual holiday open house. For the fifth year in a row cadets gave three performances of Christmas, Hanukkah and secular seasonal favorites to a crowd of over 7,000 visitors. Between sets the cadets mingled with guests of all ages, answered questions about the Academy and military, and even danced with older patrons on the dance floor. |

TEAM The intense training pays off for the Black Knights Drill Team with a first place trophy at Cornell University's annual drill meet. The team prepared for the competition by performing at numerous football parades during the semester. |

FRENCH
IMMERSION DINNER Cadet Alison Simmons assists Directorate of Cadet Activities' Executive Chef Frank Tabasco in creating a Citrus Beurre Blanc to accompany seared scallops Nov. 14 at Benny's Lounge in Eisenhower Hall. The event was the third such dinner offered this year by the West Point French Club with the intent of transporting attendees into a completely French atmosphere with cadets and faculty engaging in French conversation while sampling French and Francophone cuisine. SUCCESSFUL
HUNT The Hunting Club had a success recently and two bucks were harvested. Thirteen cadets used the local training areas to hunt in the opening weekend of deer season. They occupied a building at Camp Natural Bridge Saturday night and hunted all day Sunday. |
