GLOVES Army Boxing Team captains Reggie Smith, 2006 185 lb. National Champion and Mike Benedosso, 2007 112 lb. National Champion, visit with the reigning World Heavyweight Champion Vitaly Klitschko, at the 80th New York Golden Gloves Championship at Madison Square Garden April 20. HOCKEY TEAM The inline hockey team took to the rink this weekend in Broomall, PA this past weekend to compete in the North American Roller Hockey Championships where they were met with some stiff competition. They did well, losing to the eventual tournament champions, the CC Titans. The enclosed photo is the team with NHL superstar Keith Primeau after one of the games. |

CLUB AT THAYER ACADEMY The Knight Caps of the Cadet Glee Club performed for the Founders Day observance at the Thayer Academy on March 26. Thayer Academy is a private preparatory school in Braintree, MA, also founded by Sylvanus Thayer. Cadets Scott Dawe, Jim Pleuss, Sean Fullan, Phillip Supple, Ryan Malikowski, Hunter Macdonald, Sheiloh Carlos and Thomas Duchaine were assisted by NCOIC MSG Jesus Ruiz. CDT Dawe also spoke to the student body about the Honor Code and how it is implemented at West Point. |

RADIO SCOUTS On 21 March 2007 the USMA Amateur Radio Club (W2KGY) supported the Sarah Wells Junior Girl Scout Troop 118 in earning the Ham Radio Patch. The club ran four stations in a round robin to provide the Girl Scouts the opportunity to learn about radio theory, learn about the Amateur Radio hobby, operate the radios and climb the radio tower. Cadets Robert Corless, Wiley Grant (KC2PCV), Richard Kubu, Joshua Mauldin (KD5FUM), Matthew Sherburne (KF4WZB) and Andrew Thompson (KC2PCW) conducted the training and acted as control operators for the Scouts. The cadets were assisted by Dr. John Rogers (KC2PCX), LTC Tim Schmoyer (W2JIG) and Mr. Roy Spells (KC2NDQ) |

MELT Cadets Adrian Perkins, president of the Class of '08 and Jeremy Evans, class vice-president, view a wax mold of the proposed Class of '08 ring with Jaleh Welton, Cadet Store manager, during a tour of the Herff-Jones plant following the 7th annual West Point Class Ring Memorial Melt held at Pease & Curren, Warwick, R.I. March 5. The melt combined 15 rings donated by USMA alumni this year with gold from the 6 previous melts.
