GLEE
CLUB PERFORMS Constance Chase, Director of the Cadet Glee Club, directs the club during a performance Nov.14 for the New York Historical Society at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. The club sang by invitation of the New-York Historical Society for their History-Makers Award. The Glee Club is involved in up to 50 performances annually throughout the United States. CHESS CLUB CHECKMATE! Over the Columbus Day Weekend, the Cadet Chess Club played in the 48th Annual Armed Forces Open (AFO) Chess Championship held in Washington DC. The AFO is open to all active duty and retired military personnel. For the 4th year in a row, the Cadet Chess Club defeated the other service academies to claim the Commander in Chief's (CIC) trophy. |

CREW KICKS OFF FALL SEASON The Army Crew Team opened its 2007 Fall season Sunday in Hartford Connecticut at the Head of the Riverfront Regatta. The Team had a strong showing overall and the cadets and coaches were please with the tone their inaugural races have set for the coming month of racing. |

TRIATHLON - NORTHEAST POWERHOUSE The Army Triathlon team established itself as the powerhouse in the Northeastern region and a viable contender for the Collegiate Championships in April with its dominating performance at the Mighty Man Sprint Triathlon this past weekend. The race served as the Conference championships for the Northeastern Collegiate Triathlon Conference, which consists of teams from the northeastern United States. |

INLINE HOCKEY TEAM The Army Inline hockey team took to the rink this weekend at the Sportsplex Arena in Feasterville, PA in a three game pre-season tournament to kick off the 2007-2008 campaign. Despite a penalty driven loss to the University of Rhode Island Rams to start the weekend, The Black Knights were able to bounce back on only a couple hours of rest and defeat Delaware and Boston University 7-4 and 10-1 respectively in much cleaner hockey. |

GLEE
CLUB AT YANKEE STADIUM The Cadet Glee Club sang the National Anthem at Game 3 of the American League Division Series playoff game between the New York Yankees and Cleveland Indians on October 7, 2007. In addition to the Glee Club performance, the Cadet Color Guard presented the national colors and a cadet detail unfurled a giant American flag across the field at Yankee Stadium. This was a great opportunity for the Glee Club, and the fans and staff at Yankee Stadium were extremely welcoming and supportive. MAJ David Harive, D/EEC&S acted as OIC and took the attached photo. |

SAILS TO 4TH OVERALL OUT OF 8 TEAMS Army Sailing went up against several other shcools at the Willow Bank Yacht Club, Cazenovia, NY on Saturday, Oct 6 and Sunday, October 7, 2007. Races were held on Lake Cazenovia in Flying Juniors. Wind on Saturday and Sunday was 5 to 10 mph, with heavy fog on Sunday. A division completed 6 races on Saturday and 2 races on Sunday. B division completed 5 races on Saturday and 3 races on Sunday. Colgate, RIT and Monmouth finished first, second and third overall. Army placed fourth overall out of eight teams. |

ORIENTEERING The USMA Orienteering Team competed in a national-level Sprint orienteering race on 22 Sep and the orienteering Relay Championship on 23 Sep in CT. At the Sprint race on Saturday, CDTs Jordan Laughlin (11, D3) and Michael Norris (11, A2) took 1st and 2nd place, respectively, in the male 16-18 age category, and CDT Paul Caston (10, D1) took 3rd place in the male 18-20 age category. At Sunday's Relay Championship, the Team's top four-person-relay took 8th (out of 17 teams) in the 4-point category, and 9th (out of 15 teams) in the 8-point category. |

SKEET
& TRAP AWARDS The Army Skeet & Trap Team continues your winning ways with start of new season. Last Friday, September 21st, the Army Skeet and Trap Team excelled at the 7th Annual Freedom Shoot Sporting Clays Event in Millbrook NY. The team finished 3rd overall out of 15 teams, shooting against various gun clubs from around the area. Individually, Jake Stewart 09 finished 4th, John Siskey 09 finished 6th, and Mike Marano 08 (Team Captain) placed 11th, with Katie Fichtner 09 finishing 2nd in the female division. |

SAILING Four plebe sailors participated in a one day Sailing Clinic hosted by Ocean County Community College at Toms River, NJ. The event was held at the Toms River Yacht Club in Vanguard 420s and sponsored by the Middle Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (MAISA). Instructions included tips on how to rig a 420 and hands on racing techniques in Barnegat Bay. |

JEWISH
CHAPEL CHOIR AT NEW CITY, NY The Jewish Chapel Cadet Choir traveled to the New City Jewish Center, a synagogue in New City, New York to participate in the Friday night Sabbath and Jewish holiday of Sukkot festivities. The cadets participated in a traditional holiday ceremony in the sukkah, a temporary structure built each year for the Sukkot holiday to commemorate the Jewish exodus from Egypt and afterwards, were treated to a Sabbath meal. Before a congregation of about 200 people, the cadets sang a variety of Jewish, Army/West Point, and patriotic songs followed by a question and answer session. |
