Black Knights Accuracy

Accuracy is the skill a jumper demonstrates when he or she exits an aircraft in flight, deploys a parachute, and lands on a designated target using some form of canopy control during the descent.

During competition, the jumpers typically exit from an altitude of about 4000' AGL, selecting his or her own release point over the ground, or "Spot." The target is usually a 16cm electronic scoring pad set on an air or foam filled tuffet that absorbs the impact of the jumper's landing. The tuffet allows the jumper to focus on a precision landing rather than a soft one.

Accuracy is one of the oldest events in sport parachuting. We focus on accuracy approaches and landings on nearly every cadet jump. Even during student training the focus is to prepare each student for the transition to an accuracy canopy as soon as they graduate from student status

Our accuracy training also prepares cadets to make the precision approaches required during demonstrations such as the Home football games each Fall at Michie Stadium. The team jumps both the Parafoil and the Classic, both of which are canopies designed specifically for accuracy.
