Welcome to the Black Knights!
The West Point Parachute Team, known as the Black Knights, is composed of about thirty cadets from the United States Military Academy. Cadets join the team during their Plebe year and train six days a week with coaches from West Point's Department of Military Instruction. The team competes at the national and collegiate level in several parachuting and skydiving disciplines, provides demonstrations for the academy, and jumps the game ball into Michie Stadium for every Army home football game.
Competition
The highlight of the sporting year is the Collegiate National Skydiving Competition where the team has the opportunity to face off against a number of universities, including the Air Force Academy, in formation skydiving, accuracy, and 6-Way Speed. This year the Black Knights walked away with a remarkable 29 medals, taking first place in 2 way, Novice Accuracy and Intermediate Accuracy.
Demonstration
The West Point Parachute team represents the Academy by performing demonstration jumps into multiple venues. Members of the team jump into every Army home football game and all the parades. This past year, the team jumped into the Texas A&M football game in front of 80,000 screaming fans. This was the highlight of many first class cadets team careers. We are always looking for new opportunities to both promote the Academy and make any event that much better.
