Army vs. Boston College

Army Victory. 41-19

Army kicked off their first playoff match against Boston College with a strong victory over Boston College. Army came into the half dedicated to gain the lead on Boston College early but even though they had many chances Army could not put any points on the board for almost the first quarter of the game. Finally Army received a penalty right in front of the try line and opted to kick for points which were converted by winger, Mike Fleming. Soon after the points were scored, Army came back against Boston College pressuring them deep into their own half. As Boston College tried to clear the ball out of there half, fly-half Dimitri del Castillo intercepted the kick to run in the first try of the match. Mike Fleming then converted the points after. At the end of the half good phase play from both the forwards and back of Army let Army’s back line to move the ball through the hands of the backs to score the final try of the half by winger Bob O’Neill. The half ended with Army taking the lead over Boston College, 17-0.

In the second half of the match Army came out to take a commanding lead over Boston College. The first try of the half came when fly-half, Dimitri del Castillo, intercepted a pass from the opposite teams fly-half and then quickly passing the ball to winger, Michael Fleming who was running a supporting line. Mike Fleming went through untouched to score and then converted the kick after. The next try came less than three minutes after the first after the backs quickly moved the ball wide to Mike Fleming as he ran to put down another Army try. Boston College did make their way onto the scoreboard by scoring two tries of their own after Army had a commanding lead. Then Army answered back as the forwards quickly powered the ball through the Boston College line which was finally scored by sophomore Mark Wilson who substituted in for 8 man Austin McNaul. Boston College then scored their final try of the match by breaking through the Army line outside. But again Army came back to put the final points on the board when winger Brian Walsh came onto the field and sprinted through the Boston College defense. Army had intense play by all the forwards especially by forwards Clint Hail and captain Trey Colantonio. The ending determination by Army made the final score Army 41, Boston College 19.
