A good rule of thumb for many athletes is to arrive at least 90 minutes before the start of the first wave. This gives you enough time to pick up your packet (if you haven't already), get your gear arranged properly in the transition area, It also allows you to take care of any unforeseen problems like fixing a flat tire.
No. It is not legal or fair for us to transfer your registration to anyone else. Please do not ask for any special favors, as we don't like to have to say no. And we must.
Based on comments received in our survey last year, and in order to keep the costs down, we elected not to sanction our race with the United States of America Triathlon organization. We realize that there are some athletes who would like to submit their finishing results for national ranking. However, with 20% of our participants being first time triathletes, we feel we have made the right decision.
ChampionChip Timing by Super Race Systems provides us with the chip to help obtain accurate splits for each event as well as your transition times. You can find instructions on how to use the chip at this link.
Teams will have to pass the chip between members at each transition. It is highly recommended that the person receiving the chip bend down and remove it from the previous member's ankle. The "fresh" athlete will probably have less trouble undoing the Velcro strap.
Everyone you ask will provide you with an opinion. I have found this article to be informative and will certainly help answer some of your questions.
You can email staff and let us know who wants to volunteer, and perhaps what it is they might want with. It's not as efficient, but if they show up early on race day and want to help out, just go to the information building near the transition area and let our volunteer coordinator know that you have some free labor to offer. however, we can't guarantee that we'll be able to put them to good use that late in the game.
Best advice - "know the rules". Nothing is more frustrating than to see someone abusing the drafting rules. If you get caught, you will be given a time penalty. Get caught again and you can be disqualified. Drafting however, is just one of the infractions. You can check out all the rules at this link.
No. By leveraging the power of the internet and the wonderful tools available on Active.com our overhead and paperwork are greatly reduced. As a result we can keep our registration fees more affordable. If you have trouble with the web site, or don't have a credit card, you can email the race director and we'll work to fix the problem.
We are just not set up to man or operate race day registration. All the swim waves are established ahead of time, the bib numbers are assigned, and all the entrants are pre-loaded into the computer for the chip timing system. Additionally, it is impossible to forecast the proper size and number of t-shirts if we allow race day registration. By ordering the correct number ahead of time we can save waste and money. This means lower registration fees for you.
