Broadway Shows

The Cadet Hostess Office has a selection of coupons for Broadway Productions available for use in New York City. These coupons can be redeemed by phone, in person, or on the Internet. The exact same coupons are available for staff and faculty at the MWR ITR Office located in Building 695.

Information for coupons is also available at the following web site: www.schooltix.com
To access specific show information, access the web site, click on “Shows Available”, and follow the instructions for discount prices, show dates, and ordering information. You can also purchase discount tickets on the following web sites: www.theatermania.com and www.playbill.com
You must sign up for membership when you access the sites, but membership is free and it is another source for purchasing tickets.

Another web site: www.broadwaybox.com - offers discounted tickets without membership to the site.
If you are in the city and decide to see a show, you can visit the TKTS booths located throughout the city. They sell discount tickets on the day of the performance you want to see (there are some exceptions for weekend matinees).
The main TKTS booth is located in the center of Times Square. The hours for the Times Square TKTS booth are as follows:

Mon-Sat - same day performances - 1500-2000 hours
Wed & Sat - same day matinee performances - 1000-1400 hours
Sunday - same day matinee/evening performances - 1100-1930 hours

TKTS Times Square accepts credit cards, cash, travelers checks, and TKTS gift certificates.
For more information on TKTS, visit the web site at: www.tdf.org

RUSH

With its roots from Student RUSH tickets, Anyone RUSH tickets were created In an effort to make Broadway tickets more affordable, build word-of-mouth for a show and to create and reward loyal fan bases - many Broadway shows offer discount "Rush" tickets at cheap prices that are also great seats. These discount Broadway tickets are available to anyone, just as long as you arrive early enough with cash in hand at the Broadway theatre. Fans can show up at the theater box office first thing in the morning and buy Broadway show tickets (often the front row for just $20). Rush tickets became a true phenomenon with the musical Rent, where "Rent-heads" would actually line up and sleep overnight on the pavement so that they could get their rush tickets!

To keep people from camping out on the New York City streets, Rent and a few other Broadway shows (particularly those popular with younger audiences) instituted lottery systems for distributing their Anyone Rush tickets. The rules for the lottery (ticket price, time of lottery drawing, etc.) vary for the different Broadway shows, and we detail those rules in our Broadway Discount Tickets Guide.

Some Broadway shows distribute Anyone Rush tickets the old-fashioned way, too, by asking ticket buyers to arrive when the theater box office opens in the morning, or at a specific time during the day (we also detail these policies in our Broadway Discount Tickets Guide). Anyone Rush tickets are usually about $20-$25 each, but occasionally the tickets are up in the $30-$40 range. Remember that you are usually expected to pay for these discount tickets with cash, and often (especially with the lottery) a photo ID is required, as they limit the total amount of discount tickets you can buy on any one day.
