Gary R. Steele is currently Director of Organization Effectiveness in the HR Group in the Office of the Vice Chairman at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in New York City.  In this position, he works with Pfizer colleagues and leaders in the areas of Organizational Change Management, Team Effectiveness, Leader Development, and Performance Management.

Prior to joining Pfizer, Gary was Director of Human Resources for Citizens Telecom, a nationwide local and long distance company based in Stamford, Connecticut.   Previous to that, he was the Associate Superintendent of Human Resources for the School District of Kansas City, Missouri.
 
Gary graduated from the U.S. Military Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree and served for twenty-three years until his retirement at the rank of Colonel.  While initially commissioned in the Infantry upon graduation, for eighteen of his twenty-three years he served in various Human Resources leadership and operational support positions.  His service was marked by numerous postings outside of the United States, including three years each in the Panama Canal Zone, Greece, and at NATO Military Headquarters at SHAPE, Belgium.

Gary earned a Masters degree in International Relations from Boston University, and in addition to holding a number of Human Resources and Organizational Effectiveness related certifications; he is a fluent Greek linguist.

He and his wife, Mona, live in Newtown, Connecticut and have three grown children.
