Sergeant First Class Jonathan Higgs joined the Army in 2003 and attended One Station Unit Training at FT Leonard Wood, MO, to become a Military Police Officer. There he met his wife Christan, they have two children, Joclyn and Paul.
During his career, Sergeant First Class Higgs has served as a Tactical Non-Commissioned Officer, Operations Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, Brigade Provost Sergeant, Warrior Leader Course Chief of Training, Senior Small Group Leader, Squad Leader, Team Leader, Driver, and Military Police Soldier. He also participated in Operation Enduring Freedom.
Sergeant First Class Higgs has been assigned to the following units: The 209th Military Police Company and Headquarters, Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk, LA; The 13th Military Police Company (ABN) and United States Army Garrison at Vicenza, Italy; The Noncommissioned Officers Academy, Sergeant Major Academy, at Fort Bliss, TX; 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division and the 503rd MP BN (ABN) at Fort Bragg, NC; The United States Military Academy Preparatory School at West Point, NY.
Sergeant First Class Higgs’ military and civilian education includes Jumpmaster, Warrior Leaders Course (Leadership Award Recipient), Advanced Leaders Course Senior Leaders Course (Commandants List), Antiterrorism Office Basic Course, Unit Prevention Leaders Course, Small Arms Master Marksmanship Course, and is currently attending the University of Phoenix pursuing an Information Technology degree. Sergeant First Class Higgs is a graduate of the inaugural Benavidez Leader Development Program, at the United States Military Academy.
Sergeant First Class Higgs’ awards and decorations include the Senior Parachutist Badge, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with two silver oak leaf, the Army Achievement Medal with one silver oak leaf, the Army Good Conduct Medal with four knots, the National Defense Service Medal, The Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon with numeral two. Sergeant First Class Higgs is a member of the prestigious Sergeant Morales Club, and a member of the Military Police Corps Commandants 100.
