Captain Anthony Chung

 C Company Tactical Officer, USMAPS

     Captain Anthony Chung graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and commissioned into the Army as a Second Lieutenant of Armor.
     Captain Chung's first assignment was as a platoon leader for Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, which he took control of while deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 10-11.  He served as a platoon leader and executive officer with Charlie Company, preparing and supporting the company through a Decisive Action rotation at the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, CA, as well as preparing Charlie Company for their deployment to Camp Beuhring, Kuwait in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (Spartan Shield).  While deployed to Kuwait, Captain Chung became the Headquarters and Headquarters Company Executive Officer, where he served through redeployment and the remainder of his time at Fort Carson.
     Captain Chung attended the Maneuver Captains Career Course from March 2014 to September 2014.  After graduating, he attended the Cavalry Leader Course at Fort Benning, GA.  Upon completion, he reported to Fort Drum, NY where he was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 71st Cavalry Regiment.  He supported the squadron as the Current Operations Officer and S3 Air during their Decisive Action rotation at the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk, LA, and continued to serve as the current operations officer until May 2015.  Captain Chung assumed control of Banshee Troop, 3rd Squadron, 71st Cavalry Regiment in July 2015 shortly before the Squadron deployed to the Baghdad Diplomatic Support Center in Baghdad, Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve 2015-2016. Captain Chung assumed command of Headquarters and Headquarters Troop in June 2016.  He led the Troop through a rigourous trainup that culminated with the Troop performing admirably at the Joint Readiness Training Center Rotation 17-05.
     Captain Chung's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2OLC), Army Achievement Medal (OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terror Service Ribbon, Global War on Terror Expeditionary Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, NATO ISAF ribbon, and Parachutist Badge.
     Captain Chung is married to Elizabeth Chung (a 2010 Naval Graduate) and they have a two year daughter, Kennedy.
