Introduction
Athletic training is practiced by certified athletic trainers, health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to optimize activity and participation of patients and athletes. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, evaluation, and intervention of emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities. The athletic training staff at the United States Military Academy Preparatory School (USMAPS) consists of two certified members of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, which is the official governing body in the United States and abroad to promote and advance the professional of athletic training. They are also both licensed by the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners. Working in conjunction with physicians from both the Patterson Army Health Clinic at Fort Monmouth and Keller Army Community Hospital at West Point, we strive to provide quality medical care to the cadet-candidate battalion.
