WELCOME LETTER

Dear Cadet Candidate:

Congratulations on your selection to attend the United States Military Academy Preparatory School! USMAPS will become your family over the next eleven months. We are a unit that is focused on excellence in everything we do. We expect you to uphold the high standards of the battalion and the school. We will thrive on challenges. In everything we do, we will give our best effort and always improve every time we execute a task. We take care of each other and help each other to be successful.

We are team, and I assure you the members of the cadre are focused on making you successful. Our mission is to mold you into high performing cadet candidates who are ready to excel at every challenge here and at West Point. We care about your success. The fact that the cadre members are demanding is a sign that we truly care about making you succeed. Remember that nothing valuable in life is easy to get. The rewards you get for working hard will be great if you trust your cadre, do your best at all times, and take care of each other.

Thousands of men and women have accepted these same challenges in years past and succeeded. You would not have been selected to be here if you did not have the potential and ability to make it. The motto of our school is your recipe for success: DESIRE, FAITH, EFFORT. You can achieve anything if you truly want to, if you truly believe that you can, and if you do your best at all times.
