Cadet Candidate Basic Training (CCBT)

During the first four weeks at USMAPS Cadet Candidates go through an orientation to military training called Cadet Candidate Basic Training (CCBT). During this short and intense period, Cadet Candidates are exposed to a variety of Soldier tasks and situations. The specific CCBT objectives are:

  1. Provide a common experience that bonds the class as a unit.
  2. Introduce and reinforce military expectations of order and discipline.
  3. Determine base proficiency levels in military, academic, and physical aptitude.
  4. For Active Duty Soldiers, effect the transition from Soldier to Cadet Candidate life.
  5. Guide Cadet Candidates through the anxiety of separation from family.
  6. Define standards and expectations for successful matriculation to West Point.
  7. Acclimatize Cadet Candidates to the fast, challenging pace of USMAPS life.
