|USMAPS Defeats Navy 34-28 |
|Culminating the season with a victory, your Army Prep Football team defeated Navy Prep this past weekend 34 – 28. Trailing by 14 points early off in the game, the defense rallied in the end of the second quarter to slow down Navy’s high scoring triple option offense. Key defensive players included CC TJ Atimalala, Jonas Niusulu, Justin Fahn, Tyler McLees and Dan Muenzer. Despite a few early mishaps, the team was able to defeat the triple option to include two huge 4th down stops late in the fourth quarter. |

Tom Simi enters his second season as the Head Coach of the West Point Prep Football program. Prior to his arrival at USMAPS, Coach Simi served as Head Coach at Feather River Junior College in California.
Just prior to the 2007 season, the departure of highly successful head coach Rob Cushman led Simi to take on the role of interim Head Football Coach at Feather River. Simi was officially named Head Football Coach in March of 2008.
During the 2008 season, Simi led Feather River back to a post-season bowl game and was among the CA JC leaders in scoring offense and rushing offense.
Simi initially joined the Feather River staff in 2004, after two seasons coaching at Heritage High School in Vancouver, WA. Coach Simi took on the position of Offensive Line Coach at Feather River helped the Golden Eagles to post-season bowl games following the 2004, 2005, and 2006 seasons. During this time, Feather River was among the CA JC leaders in scoring offense and twice led CA JC in rushing offense.
In the 5 years Simi coached the offensive line at Feather River, he mentored 3 All-State Region I players, 10 All-Conference players, and sent 8 on to DIA or DIAA schools on full "ride" scholarships. In all, more than a dozen of his offensive linemen had scholarship offers to 4 year colleges and universities.
After a 3 year stint as a student assistant at his alma mater, Eastern Oregon University, and then 1 year at the high school level, Coach Simi returned to EOU to coach from 1997-2001, working with current West Point Offensive Coordinator Ian Shields from 1997-1999.
Coach Simi coached the RB/WR's in 1997 and the Offensive Line from 1998-2001. In 1998 he helped EOU to a top 25 National Ranking and the school's best season in 20 years. In 1999 he helped EOU to top 10 national rankings in total offense and rushing offense. The 1999 offense, led by Coach Shields and with Coach Simi as Offensive Line Coach, set over 30 school records.
Simi attended Eastern Oregon University and graduated with a BS in History in 1994. He was a 4 year starter and 2 time all-conference player.
