MAJ Timothy J. McDonald grew up in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia and is a graduate of the United States Military Academy, Class of 2006. Upon commissioning as a second lieutenant in the Armor branch, MAJ McDonald completed initial training and was assigned to the 2nd Stryker Brigade of the 25th Infantry Division in Schofield Barracks, HI. There, he led a Stryker Rifle Platoon and deployed to Baghdad, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (07-09). After attending the Maneuver Captains’ Career Course, MAJ McDonald joined the 1st Brigade of the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, NC where he assumed command of an Airborne Reconnaissance Troop and deployed to Ghazni, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (12). CPT MAJ McDonald proudly serves as a US Army Ranger, Jumpmaster, and Senior Parachutist.
Following selection to serve as faculty at USMA, MAJ McDonald attended Duke University where he earned a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the Fuqua School of Business. He now serves as an Instructor in the areas of Military Leadership, Management, and Negotiations within the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership.
