​     SFC Laird, Malcolm L. was born in Decatur, GA and enlisted in 1996 into the Ordnance Corps. He graduated from basic training from Fort Sill, OK with Charlie Company 1/19th and attended advanced individual training as a 63W Wheeled Vehicle Repairer at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland. His first duty station was Camp Stanley, Korea with Delta Company 702nd MSB where he served as a Wheeled Vehicle Repairer in a Direct Support Company. He then served with the 588th Maintenance Company, 19th Maintenance Battalion at Fort Sill, OK as a Wheeled Vehicle Repairer.  His next assignment was with 3rd Maintenance Company, 1/43 ADA at Suwon Airbase, Korea where he served as a Squad Leader, Section Sergeant, and Inspection Section NCOIC.  SFC Laird then returned to Fort Sill, OK and was assigned to the 226th Maintenance Company, 19th Maintenance Battalion, and the 100thBSB, 75th Fires Brigade. During his second tour to Fort Sill he was the 1/77th Maintenance Support Team NCOIC and Senior Wheeled Mechanic.  He then was assigned to 1/35 Armor Battalion, Baumholder, Germany. During his tour with HHC 1/35 AR he served as a Senior Wheeled Mechanic and Motor Sergeant.  He deployed to COP Cache and FOB Falcon in Iraq during his tour in Germany.  He then was assigned to Charlie Company, 304th Expeditionary Signal Battalion at Camp Stanley, Korea as a Motor/Platoon Sergeant.  SFC Laird was then assigned to the 542D SMC, 13th CSSB, JBLM for two years as the Automotive Platoon Sergeant. His most recent assignment was with HHC 593rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command, JBLM where he was assigned as the G-4 Senior Maintenance Supervisor.  He is currently serves as an MS100 Instructor and Department S-4 NCOIC within DMI.
