Dr. Todd Crowder is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Education at the United States Military Academy. He graduated from Fort Hays State University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science in General Science. He also holds a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Human Performance from the University of Missouri. Dr. Crowder has also coached Division 1 track for 2 years at the University of Missouri and 8 years at the United States Military Academy specializing in middle distance events.

Dr. Crowder has served in a variety of leadership roles and assignments both at the United States Military Academy and elsewhere. He has been the Course Director for Foundations of Personal Fitness (PE215) from 1990-2002, and 2006-2010. He created the Cadet Fitness Challenge in 2000, and over 13,000 cadets have been assessed via this comprehensive, criterion based fitness challenge. Dr. Crowder conceived and created the Center for Physical Development Excellence in DPE, being the first director from 1999-2005. He was Director of Sports Medicine from 1990-1994 setting the foundation for growth and expansion. Since 1990, he has been responsible for securing over 1.4 million dollars in funding for DPE and various cadet research projects. Dr. Crowder has been involved with 48 different cadet projects involving over 64 cadets & five different USMA Academic Departments and two junior faculty projects involving the Mathematical Science Department. Since 1990, Dr. Crowder has assisted many USMA cadet-athletes with pursuing their optimal performance goals which have included: Junior Olympic Development Crew team, National Football League, Army’s World Class Athlete Program. From 2003-2011, Dr. Crowder worked with Army track and field athletes, and together, they accomplished: Junior National All-American, NCAA Regional Qualifiers, Patriot League Champions, Army-Navy Champions and at the time, 10 All-Time Top-10 Army Records. Currently Dr. Crowder is Course Director for Aerobic Fitness, teaches a variety of DPE courses and pursues both military and sports optimal physical performance research.

In addition to his teaching duties, Dr. Crowder volunteers in assisting the Army Strength team and coaches youth sports in Cornwall, NY. ​
