Daniel Jaffe holds a Ph.D in Exercise Physiology from Springfield College, Springfield, MA, where he worked as a graduate research and teaching fellow for the Department of Exercise Science and Sports Studies. His doctoral research was focused on the chronic effects of beta-alanine supplementation on physical performance parameters and lactate kinetics in college age males, specifically focused on individuals seeking a commission within the armed forces. Dr. Jaffe arrive at West Point in the summer of 2015 where his primary duties include teaching Exercise Physiology, Motor Control and Learning, Foundations of Personal Fitness, as well as continuing his research in the field of Exercise Physiology. Prior to arriving at West Point, Dr. Jaffe was an instructor at Virginia Military Institute for two years, where he was responsible for teaching a variety of courses in both the Department of Physical Education and Biology, in addition to coaching the Olympic Weightlifting and Women’s Rugby club. His current research interest focuses on the effects of dietary supplementation and macronutrient redistribution on physical performance and biomarker kinetics. Dr. Jaffe also serves as the head coach of the West Point Powerlifting Team.
