MAJ Walter Thomas is originally from Nashua, NH. He graduated from the United States Military Academy in 2007 and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Aviation branch. MAJ Thomas qualified as a Chinook pilot and served as an Executive Officer, Maintenance Platoon Leader and Flight Platoon Leader while serving at Hunter Army Airfield in the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade. During his time in the 3rd CAB, MAJ Thomas deployed for 13 months to Bagram Airfield serving with Task Force Knighthawks. After leaving the 3rd CAB, MAJ Thomas attended the Aviation Captains Career Course in Fort Rucker, AL. Upon graduation, MAJ Thomas was assigned as the Aviation Operations Officer for the 2nd Infantry Division, at Camp Red Cloud, Republic of Korea. MAJ Thomas was then assigned as the Company Commander for B, 2-4 General Support Aviation Battalion at Fort Carson, CO. His company provided all Chinook support for the 4th Infantry Division, the 10th Special Forces Group and supporting 4ID units. Following that, MAJ Thomas attended graduate school, completing his Master’s in Education (Kinesiology) at the University of Virginia. He is happily married to the former Amanda Wills and they have two dogs, Theodore and Olivia.
