Biography


MAJ Kevin Zhang was born in New York City, New York and graduated from the United States Military Academy in 2012.  He commissioned as a Armor officer and was first assigned to the 4th Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division in Ft. Carson, Colorado. In Colorado, he served as a platoon leader, executive officer, assistant operations officer and deployed to Jordan in 2015. After completing the Maneuver Captain’s Career Course, MAJ Zhang was assigned to the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division in Ft. Hood (known as Ft. Cavazos since 2023) , Texas and deployed to the Republic of Korea from 2017-2018. In 2018, MAJ Zhang assumed command of B co, 1st Squadron, 8th Cavalry Regiment. After command, MAJ Zhang attended graduate school at the University of Texas at Austin where he graduated in 2021 with a MA in history. He currently instructs in the Military History Division at the United States Military Academy.
