Captain John Parker is an American Politics Instructor in the Department of Social Sciences at the United States Military Academy. He commissioned in 2008 as an Adjutant General Officer. John has served as a Brigade Strength Manager for the 48th Chemical Brigade, Battalion S1 for the 716th Military Police Battalion, and Commander of the Headquarters & Headquarters Detachment, 716th MP BN. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2012.
John earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Tarleton State University. He also earned a Master of Arts in History from Texas A&M University – Central Texas. Prior to arriving to teach at West Point in 2017, John earned a Master of Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley’s Goldman School of Public Policy.
John lives with his wife Laura and their four children—Kaitlyn, Madelyn, Amelia, and Theodore—in Marlboro, NY.
