CPT Michael Wright is an instructor of American Politics in the Department of Social Sciences. He is a Military Intelligence officer with experience as an Infantry officer and enlisted Soldier. He deployed as a Rifleman with the 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne to Afghanistan in 2002-2003, Fallujah, Iraq from 2003-2004, and again to Afghanistan in support of the country’s first Presidential election in 2004. After commissioning, CPT Wright served as an Infantry Platoon Leader, Rifle Company Executive Officer and Battalion Rear Detachment Commander for the 1st Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 2 BCT, 82nd Airborne. As a Platoon Leader, he participated in a no-notice deployment to Haiti as part of the Global Response Force following Haiti’s 2010 earthquake. Immediately upon return to Fort Bragg, CPT Wright again deployed as part of the Global Response Force, this time to Ghazni Province, Afghanistan. Upon completion of the Military Intelligence Captain’s Career Course, CPT Wright served as the Battalion S2 for the 5th Engineer Battalion, and the Brigade S2 for the 4th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, both at Fort Leonard Wood, MO.
CPT Wright holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Akron, and a Master of Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. He also earned a certificate in Applied Politics at the University of Akron’s Bliss Institute of Applied Politics.
CPT Wright is honored to be married to April, and is the proud dad to Eli.
