MAJ Newbill’s past assignments include Rifle Platoon Leader, Anti-armor Company Executive Officer, and Battalion Air Operations Officer in 3rd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment at Fort Bragg, NC from 2003-2005. From 2006-2010, he served as Assistant Operations officer, Rifle Company Commander and Headquarters Company Commander in 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry (Stryker) at Schofield Barracks, HI. From 2010-2013, MAJ Newbill served as an Observer/Controller, Aide-de-Camp to the Commanding General and G5 Planner in Operations Group and the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk, LA. From 2013-2014, he served in a one-year interagency fellowship at the Department of State in Washington, D.C. From 2014-2016, he served as Battalion Operations Officer and Executive Officer in 3rd Battalion, 509th Infantry (Airborne) at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, AK. From 2016-2017, MAJ Newbill served as Assistant Operations Officer to the Commandant, United States Corps of Cadets at West Point, NY.
MAJ Newbill’s combat and operational deployments include Joint Task Force-6 counter narcotics operation; Hurricane Katrina recovery operation, Operation Iraqi Freedom II and VI, and Operation Talisman-Sabre. His military schools and education include USMAPS, USMA, Infantry Officer Basic Course, Infantry Captains Career Course, Command and General Staff College, Ranger School, Combat Diver Qualification Course, Airborne School, and Jumpmaster School.
MAJ Newbill’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with 1OLC, Meritorious Service Medal with 2OLC, Army Commendation Medal with 2OLC, Army Achievement Medal with 2OLC and other unit and campaign medals. He as earned the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Combat Diver Badge, and the Ranger Tab.
MAJ Newbill is married to Jerah Newbill of Merced, CA. They have three energetic and active children: Lilly (12), Ella (10), and Samuel (5).
